About the Cambodian Research Centre for Development

Origins

The Cambodian Research Centre for Development was founded by members of LIDEE Khmer, an association of Cambodian professionals with international academic and professional credentials, and staff members of Ta Phrom, a Canadian-Cambodian consultancy firm specialised in sustainable development.  Although CRCD retains collaborative research links with those organisations, the centre has become an independent entity with full legal and managerial autonomy.

Mission Statement

The Cambodian Research Centre for Development is an independent, non-political, non partisan and not for profit research organisation. The activities of CRCD focus on research in the areas of development, with the goal of improving the activities of national and international organisations involved in the development of the Kingdom of Cambodia. CRCD aims to provide to a broad public, knowledge for sustainable development, through academically rigorous research.

Non Partisan and Independent Research

CRCD is financed by philanthropic foundations, private donations, and contractual or sponsored research. Under sponsored research, the centre contracts a legal  agreement with an organisation that provides funds for specifically defined research, including social surveys, field project evaluations, policy or technical analyses.

CRCD undertakes sponsored research for other organisations or sponsors under the following conditions:

  • Results are freely and broadly published and disseminated.
  • The sponsor does not attempt to influence the research towards any predetermined conclusions.
